Where Community Meets Opportunity
The Fairview Economic Development Corporation (EDC) and the Community Development Corporation (CDC) were established in 2004 to support the Town’s strategic growth while maintaining its unique rural charm. Recognizing the need for economic expansion to enhance Town services and reduce reliance on residential property taxes, Fairview’s leadership took action to invest in the Town’s future.
- The EDC, funded by a Type A half-cent sales tax, focuses on attracting businesses, supporting local job creation and increasing commercial development to strengthen the Town’s economic base.
- The CDC, funded by a Type B half-cent sales tax, invests in projects that improve the quality of life for residents, including public safety, parks, trails and infrastructure improvements.
Vision – To continue to be a community which has excellent opportunities and development that is attracted to the diverse opportunities to live, work, play and grow.
Mission – To develop and nurture a diverse, vibrant economy consistent with the values and goals of the community.
A Prime Example of Community Development: The Fairview Fire Station
One of the most impactful community development projects has been the construction of a new Fairview Fire Station 1. Recognizing the growing needs of the Town, the Fairview CDC played a key role in funding this state-of-the-art facility.
- The fire station enhances public safety by reducing response times and providing critical emergency services to residents and businesses.
- It supports Fairview’s long-term development by ensuring that as the Town grows, essential services grow with it.
- The project exemplifies how sales tax dollars from local businesses directly benefit the community, reinforcing the importance of a strong local economy.

A History of Smart Growth
Fairview’s journey toward economic development began in the late 1990s when community leaders saw the potential for business growth along U.S. Highway 75, State Highway 5 and Stacy Road. Early studies and planning efforts helped shape a vision for a balanced mix of commercial and residential development.
Key milestones include:
- 1998: A University of Texas at Arlington study proposed a commercial district.
- 1999: The Fairview Citizen Committee outlined initial goals for economic development.
- 2004: The first Economic Development Strategic Plan was adopted.
- 2015: A major update to the strategic plan reinforced Fairview’s commitment to attracting the right mix of businesses and maintaining its distinct character.
- 2018: Another strategic plan update further refined Fairview’s approach to sustainable economic growth.
- 2019-present: Sloan Corners – The next major development in DFW
Fairview is poised for a transformational new chapter with the development of Sloan Corners, a premier mixed-use master-planned community by Billingsley Company. Situated at the southeastern corner of U.S. 75 and SH 121, Sloan Corners will be a landmark project that significantly enhances Fairview’s commercial corridor.
- A dynamic mix of office buildings, high-rise and mid-rise residences will bring both daytime and nighttime populations that are unmatched in the region.
- Acres of parks, bridges and pedestrian trails will weave through the development along Sloan Creek, offering more green space than Klyde Warren Park in Dallas.
- As a northern gateway to Fairview, Sloan Corners will redefine urban living while preserving the Town’s commitment to quality development and green space.
