The Town of Fairview’s Remote Virtual Inspection (RVI) program provides an alternative inspection option for eligible residential and commercial projects. This helps contractors stay on target with job schedules and workflows and provides homeowners the advantage of not having to take time off work for the Building Official to inspect the project. All Town of Fairview codes and referenced standards are applicable in the RVI program. It is a voluntary, not mandatory, program. Eligible projects for RVI are listed below.

Residential Electric

  • Panel change outs/reconnects
  • Generators
  • New circuit installs
  • Solar PV systems

HVAC

  • Condenser change outs
  • Mini Split installs
  • Split systems
  • RTU change out
  • Mechanical Ventilation (air handler, ducts and return vents)

Residential Irrigation

Plumbing

  • Water Heaters
  • Sewer Relays
  • Slab leaks
  • Water service lines (repair and replacement)
  • Sewer lines (repair)
  • PRV valves
  • Backflow preventors
  • Re-pipes
  • Work in tunnels
  • Gas relays (residential)

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

  • Take high-quality color photos or video so that a proper determination can be made by the Building Official.
  • Please review images and videos for focus and content.
  • Please name each file you upload to identify the type of document, such as “Photo,” “Video” or type of letter. Example: Photo1, Photo2, Engineer, Under slab.
  • If the inspection requires a measurement, a picture of the distance verified by tape measure must be included. If the inspection requires a check of proper slope, a picture with a level showing proper slope must be included. Include the address in the photo.
  • For inspections that require systems to be on test, video is preferred.
  • Upload the photos/video with the correct permit application. DO NOT submit photocopies of photos. Include the project address with the photos.

SUBMISSION REVIEW

Photos will be reviewed during business hours. Approval or correction will be sent via email. The inspector may call you to discuss the photos or video, request additional information or to schedule an on-site or live video inspection, if needed.
