By law, neither the Town of Fairview nor Republic Services collects household hazardous waste. Each spring, the Fairview Public Works Department holds a one-day drop-off event for household hazardous waste. Register for Everbridge Nixle updates to be notified when the next collection event will occur.

For a fee, residents may also take approved hazardous waste to the Dallas County Home Chemical Collection Center at 11234 Plano Road in Dallas, about one mile north of Interstate 635.

The Dallas County Home Chemical Collection Center accepts only household waste such as paint, pesticides, yard chemicals, pool chemicals, motor oil and other automotive fluids, cleaners, glues and other hobby products, fluorescent light tubes and batteries. Items not accepted include business waste, common trash and recyclables, radioactive materials, explosives, ammunition or bio-medical waste.
